Toledo Racial Equity and Inclusion Council to hold ‘Data Walk’ Dec. 10

Nov. 30, 2021 — The Toledo Racial Equity and Inclusion Council (TREIC) invites you to attend a Data Walk, an interactive guided tour and discussion regarding racial and ethnic disparities in the Greater Toledo area. The Data Walk will be held on Friday, December 10th from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at the United Way of Greater Toledo, 1001 Madison Avenue, Toledo, OH 43604. This is an open house style event and invitees can arrive at any time during the time block.  If you’re not available on the 10th, join us on December 11th at Jones Leadership Academy from 10 am – 2 pm.

TREIC was formed in response to the social unrest after the murder of George Floyd and the exacerbated disparities of the pandemic. Like other communities around the country, we learned that an intentional collective impact strategy is imperative to ensuring that all members of our community have an equitable ability to gain wealth and serve in positions of influential leadership to shape the future of Toledo.

During the data walk, you will also have an opportunity to learn more about the next steps for TREIC, a public-private partnership formed to facilitate the development of a community strategy to address the root causes of poverty, dismantle systemic barriers caused by structural racism, and build wealth within communities of color. The council is committed long-term to addressing policies and practices that perpetuate racial inequities within systems and institutions impacting Greater Toledo. TREIC is focused on seven pillar areas:

  • Social Justice
  • Education
  • Workforce Development
  • Health and Well-Being
  • Economic Development
  • Housing
  • Youth

We hope you can join us and lend your voice to ensuring we all “will do better in Toledo.”  Please RSVP at info@treic.org and include DATA WALK as the subject.
