If you’re human, you’re biased. Now what?

If you’re human, you’re biased. Now what?

JULY 7, 2021–YWCA of Northwest Ohio will present the film “If you’re human, you’re biased. Now what?” with a virtual panel discussion about the film at 6 p.m. on July 19.

The film, by award-winning filmmaker Robin Hauser, highlights the nature of implicit bias and the grip it holds on our social and professional lives, and what it will take to induce change.

According to Hauser, “Bias…is the underlying precursor to many of the ‘-isms’ that plague our
society: sexism, racism and ageism.”

The YWCA will make a link to the film available July 16-19, and will host a virtual panel
discussion at the conclusion of the viewing period with the filmmaker and Toledo industry
leaders on 6 p.m. on July 19th. This is a free event.

Our goal is for everyone in the community to watch the film and to begin a conversation about
different ways to dismantle bias and move toward the goal of ensuring equity for all. A discussion guide complete with action steps and selected resources for further study will be provided to participants.

To register to access the film and the virtual discussion go to bit.ly/biasviewing. You can also access
the film through Hoopla with your Toledo Public Library card. For more information, frequently
asked questions, and to view the trailer visit ywcanwo.org/bias.

The film is being made possible with support from ProMedica, Fifth Third Bank, and Lucas County Children Services.
