Feb. 6, 2021 — A story in today’s New York Times is so thought provoking — the racist foundation of the Classics — I thought others may like to read it. I studied Latin poetry while at Ohio State, but while respecting the ancient poets of Rome I failed to realize they were only able to be poets because of the enslaved culture at the foundations of the Roman empire.

To think that some of the white supremacists Trump supporters who  stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 wore the symbols of ancient Rome and Greece is truly abhorrent to me, but not surprising after reading this story.
