Register, Rally, Vote!!!
By David Murray, TCC Web Editor
TUESDAY, Oct. 4, 2022–It’s time to register, rally, and get ready for this year’s general election on Nov. 8, with early voting beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Lucas County Early Vote Center, 3737 West Sylvania Ave., Suite 121, in Toledo.
But before you can vote you have to register to vote. The deadline for registering to vote is Tuesday, Oct. 11. This close to the election the best way to register to vote is to go to the Lucas County Board of Election offices at the early vote center. Go to Entrance B and head to Suite 121 where election workers will help you register. You’ll need to fill out a form with your name and address. If you don’t have a driver’s license or state-issued ID, you can provide the last four digits of your Social Security number to register to vote.
There will be an information session and voter registration drive at 10 a.m. this Saturday, Oct. 8, at the early vote center sponsored by several pro-voting groups including the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus and the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists. Ohio Rep. Paula Hicks-Hudson, a former Toledo mayor and city councilwoman, is leading the registration drive this Saturday and will be at the early vote center with other volunteers to help people to register to vote.
The Ohio Black Voter Empowerment Bus Tour will begin this year in Toledo at a rally from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 12 at Warren AME Church parking lot, 915 Collingwood Boulevard. The theme of this year’s bus tour is “We WON’T Black Down.” The bus tour will head to Cleveland for a 3 to 7 p.m. rally following the Toledo rally; to Akron and Columbus for rallies on Oct. 13, and to Wilberforce, Dayton, and Cincinnati for rallies on Oct. 14.
