Voter Registration Deadline in July 10th
SATURDAY, JULY 1, 2023–As an organization committed to empowering individuals and advocating for social justice, The YWCA of Northwest Ohio believes that every voice deserves to be heard. With this in mind, we would like to emphasize the critical importance of registering to vote before the upcoming deadline of July 10th.
“Voting provides us with the opportunity to shape our communities, influence policies, and elect leaders who align with our values. By casting our ballots, we can actively participate in creating the change we wish to see in our local, state, and national governments,” said Lisa McDuffie, president of the YWCA.
Why is registering to vote by July 10th crucial? This deadline ensures that you are eligible to vote in the next election cycle. Whether it’s a local primary, a special election, or a general election, your voice matters. Every election presents an opportunity to make a difference and address the issues that affect us directly.
If you’re not yet registered or need to update your registration, we’ve made it easy for you. Visit your local county board of elections or go online to register. Share this information with your friends, family, and neighbors, and help us create a more engaged and inclusive electorate.
Make your voice heard. Register to vote by July 10th, and let us stand together as agents of change, working towards a more equitable and just society.
Ms. McDuffie also pointed out how important it is for voters to educate themselves about Issue 1 on the special Aug. 8 ballot, a Republican-backed measure that if approved would allow a 40 percent minority to block any future constitutional amendments to the Ohio Constitution.
Issue 1 will ask voters to change current law so that amendments to the Ohio Constitution will be required to be approved by voters by a 60% supermajority of voters, rather than simple majority that has been Ohio law for over 100 years.
