George Thomas is a native Toledoan. After graduating from Lourdes University, George attended law school at the University of Toledo College of Law. George worked for Legal Aid of Western Ohio as an AmeriCorps Homelessness Prevention Attorney. George then received competitive Equal Justice Works fellowship and worked for Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE) with a focus on community development and civil rights. Next, George worked as a Senior Attorney for ABLE for several years.

In January 2020, George became The Fair Housing Center’s Vice President and General Counsel. George’s work in the community is informed by personal experience, as a first-generation college graduate raised by a single mother who took her own life when George was a teenager.

George’s work has been covered in the New York Times, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and frequently in the Toledo Blade. George was a 2013, 20 under 40 Toledo awardee.
