Lead Safe Forum to Kick Off Minority Health Month

MONDAY, MARCH 23, 2026–The Toledo Lead Resource Center will host a free community event to kick off National Minority Health Month on Wednesday, April 1 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Glass City Enrichment Center in Toledo, 815 Front St., Toledo.

The afternoon will focus on empowering families with practical knowledge about preventing lead exposure while connecting families to wide array of important health and community resources. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in healthy family workshops from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. designed to provide education on lead safety, healthy homes, family wellness activities in local Metroparks, and local free programs that encourage positive mental and physical health life outcomes. The event will also feature free food, community resource tables and giveaways.

“National Minority Health Month is an important time to raise awareness about health disparities and ensure families have access to education and resources. With over 3,400 children in our county with high lead levels, and 80% of Toledo’s housing stock being built before 1978, connecting families to community resources is mission critical for the Toledo Lead Resource Center,” said Candace Buckley, executive director of the center.

Community members are encouraged to attend and connect with local organizations providing
health, housing, transportation, and family support services. Participants who complete registration will be entered into event giveaways raffles. Registration is encouraged and can be completed by visiting https://www.eventbrite.com/e/national-minority-health-month-kick-off-tickets.

The Toledo Lead Resource Center works to educate the community and support community-wide efforts to prevent lead poisoning and promote healthier housing conditions throughout Toledo. For more information go to the center’s website at www.toledoleadsafe.com or call the center at 419-724-3129.
